MONOGRAPHICA ORIENTALIA - The ancient Near Eastern city of Emar (also called Imar)—modern Old Meskene (Meskene Qadima) or Tell Meskene—was discovered in the course of rescue excavations conducted during the construction of a dam near Tabqa, in northern Syria.
